Quiet Company – A Dead Man On My Back: Shine Honesty Revisited

Around January 2013, I was on the road working with Daughtry when I received a call from Quiet Company’s Matt Parmenter. He had a song on a re-release of Shine Honesty that he was interested in having me mix. I hadn’t mixed anything in a while and was glad for a chance to flex those production muscles a bit.

I downloaded the stems from a hotel room on a day off from the tour and began creating some initial treatments. I spent the majority of my time mixing this song on the bus or in hotel rooms using headphones and my laptop speakers as monitors. On a short break from the tour, I was able to fire up my studio monitors at my then home studio in Orange County, California before submitting my final mix.
